Early Years and Military Service (1951-1978)
Born in Torreira, Murtosa, Aveiro, Portugal, in November 1951, Fernando Silva’s artistic journey began in high school, where he won awards for his talent. Initially a pilot in the Portuguese Air Force from 1972 to 1978, Silva transitioned to urban design, graduating in 1978.
Artistic Education and Growth (1978-1983)
Post-military service, Silva pursued artistic education at the Associacao of Art and Cultura “Caloust Gulbenkian” in Aveiro. Over four years, he studied ceramics under Antonio Pascoal and sculpture under Professor Jose Maria at E.S.B.A.P. Silva’s commitment bore fruit, and he began showcasing his art in 1969.
Artistic Achievements and Global Presence (1983-Present)
Since 1983, Silva has been a prominent artist, participating in global exhibitions. His work features in official art collections worldwide, with monuments and sculptures in various countries, showcasing his international impact.
In addition to exhibitions, Silva has illustrated books and contributed to events. He served on the Advisory Committee of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.
